Early Stage Researcher presents at Uganda Christian University in Kampala
Prior to his secondment at CHIBOW’s partner organisation Facilitation for Peace and Development (FAPAD) in Lira in Northern Uganda, ESR Lukas Schretter presented in a seminar on research methods at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Uganda Christian University (UCU), hosted by Allen Kiconco. UCU is a private university in Mukono with an additional campus in the Mengo district of Uganda’s capital Kampala.
In his presentation on 1 April 2017, Lukas gave an overview of his research project on children fathered by British soldiers and born to local mothers in Austria between 1945 and 1955. He focused on practical challenges and ethical considerations finding research participants and conducting archival research. On the basis of this, Lukas and the students discussed the terminologies and methods used for researching "Children Born of War" as well as some of the students’ research projects.
